Fuck 2021 dishcloth

Here we go again.
I live in Ontario Canada and where I am we have spent about 1.5 months out of lockdown this year. We are currently in our third lockdown.

So please enjoy knitting this and hopefully it helps getting some aggression out at this situation.

I guess this gives me more crafting time.

Where a mask and get vaccinated when you can.

2021

We got through 2020, and here we are almost a month into 2021.
Here in Ontario we have been under our second lock down since Dec. 26, and it looks like it’s going until about mid February.
This just means that I have an excuse not to leave home and spend more time crafting.

Please enjoy this free pattern and I hope 2021 is a better year for everyone.

Wear a mask and stay safe.

Friday the 13th

Happy Friday the 13th!
I think a lot of people are a little on edge wondering what will happen today, as for a lot of people the last Friday the 13th was pretty terrible.
So today I wanted to offer some more knitting therapy.

Wear a mask and stay safe.

Please enjoy!

Fuck 2020 dishcloth

Welcome to the shit show that is 2020!

I don’t think anyone could have even dreamed our current situation.
Now before you get mad and say that I’m not taking things seriously, I am.  I just deal with things with humour.  Which is why I made this pattern.  Making this has allowed me to get my aggression out at the things we have lost because of being quarantined.
My hope is that this can help someone else too.
Stay safe everyone.

Cora Cowl

WaterMark_2019-02-06-16-50-48
I made this cowl for a secret Santa gift, yes I am a little behind posting the pattern!
This cowl is very easy to make, it’s great for beginners!

Materials needed:
8mm needles
yarn needle
cable needle
2 100g balls of bernat sofftee chunky yarn or a super bulky yarn.

Finished size is approx. 7in w x 17.5in l when it has been folded and sewn together.

Gauge – 11 sts x 14 rows in stocking stitch = 4in x 4in

Abbreviations:
k – knit
p – purl
sts – stitches
c3b – transfer 3 stitches to cable needle and leave at the back of work.  k3 sts, k3 sts from cable needle.

*When I made the black cowl I slipped the first stitch purl wise at the beginning of every row.  I found that it did curl in and needed to be blocked.  The pattern is written as to knit the first stitch instead of slipping the first stitch.  You may choose whichever option you prefer.  I much prefer the look of the slipped stitch but it did curl which can be frustrating. *

Long tail cast on 23sts
1 – k across
2 – k3 p17 k3
3 – k across
4 – k3 p17 k3
5 – k across
6 – k3 p17 k3
7 – k4 c3b k3 c3b k4
8 – k3 p17 k3
repeat these 8 rows 13 times.
at this point the cowl should measure approx. 7in w x 35in l.
cast off and mattress stitch the short ends together.

Gia Infinity scarf

WaterMark_2018-11-11-18-07-11

I have been thinking about making this scarf for some time.  I’ve wanted to combine knitting and crocheting to make a statement piece that stands out.
I think this piece does that.
Using super bulky yarn it works up fast and there are so many colour options to choose from!

Gia Infinity Scarf

Materials needed:

8mm needles and 8mm hook
tapestry needle
scissors
measuring tape

3 100g balls of Bernat Softee Chunky in colours of choice, or a super bulky yarn.
The colours I used are:
Colour A: misty grape
Colour B : velvet teal
Colour C: true grey

Finished size is approx. 6in wide x 35in long

Gauge 4in x 4in = 8sc x 9 rows
If your gauge doesn’t match you may not have enough yarn to complete colour C, and you may require a second ball.

Abbreviations:
k – knit
sl1pwyif – slip 1st stitch purl wise with yarn in front of needle, after you have slipped the first stitch you will put the yarn in the back to continue knitting. (you may omit this if you like, I really like how clean this makes the edges.  I have included photos at the bottom of the page.)
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
sts – stitches
ch – chain

With 8mm needles and colour A cast on 15 sts (I used a long tail cast on which makes connecting the scarf much easier)
Row 1 – sl1pwyif, k to end of row.
Continue row 1 until piece measures 29.5 in.
Change to colour B (you will still sl1pwyif  with colour A and then continue knitting in colour B.  I like to knot my yarn, however you prefer to change colours is fine)
Continue with row 1 in colour B until colour B measures 6in.
Cast off, do not finish off yarn, leave the last stitch on the needle.
Transfer the stitch to your hook and ch 1 and turn your work.

You will make 14 sc across your cast off sts. (because you did not finish off that last stitch 14 sts is correct 🙂 )
Row 2 – ch 1, hdc in each stitch, turn (ch 1 does not count as a stitch)
continue with row 2 until colour B measures 12 in (6in garter stitch, 6in hdc)
Change to colour C ( however you prefer to change colours.  I fastened off colour B then started colour C by tying a knot onto the first stitch)
continue with Row 2 until colour C is 29in, turn.
ch 1, 1sc in each stitch across.
Fasten off
Using which ever colour you like, A or C, connect ends using a slip stitch.
My crocheted side was a tad wider than my knitted side so it was much easier to connect with the long tail cast on as you can see the stitches.
